kelly + jesse

a few weeks ago, i was the photographer at my dear friends kelly and jesse’s wedding. the ceremony was intimate, and held in a small country church on a beautiful summer day, followed by an incredible celebration for their families and friends to enjoy. everything about the day was perfectly them. just as it should be. i was honored to be there, capturing every moment that i could, and i am grateful to have them as friends. congratulations you two!

new project

i’m headed back to bemidji on saturday. my sister and i are both flying in to spend a week at my family’s cabin. whenever we're home, we try to put together a sewing project, mainly because my mom is a genius when it comes to stitching and we like to have her around to show us the ropes and finish our button holes. purl soho always has the most amazing fabric. here are a few swatches that are currently on their web site. i wonder what we’ll make this year.

marco... polo...

last week, i went to the thursday market to buy a red pepper plant and meet some lovely ladies for dinner and drinks at zingerman's roadhouse. on the walk there, i passed our local pool. it hasn’t been open and active since we’ve been in our new house, so i haven’t really given it much thought. now that it’s a steamy 80° outside i’m definitely ready to hit the pool. all i need is a new bathing suit. here are a few of my favorites at the moment: (1) toast navy + blood orange polka dot halter and shorts, (2) apc green gingham madras bikini, (3) zimmerman red corset suit, (4) american rag pink + purple ruffle bikini, and (5) sessun red floral halter and hipsters .

who cooks for you?

it’s spring, the birds are out, and a pair of robins are building a nest in my backyard. for decades, the quelle-est-belle company in france has been creating beautiful, handcrafted flutes to imitate bird calls developed by françois morel. singly packed or in a beautiful wooden box set, calls range in over 50 birds from the black-billed cuckoo to the tawny owl.

to last

ben and i just got back from a quick trip to boston and new york. living in ann arbor, it's nice to have a little big city excitement every once in a while. at the top of my to-do list (other than good food and visiting friends) was shopping. i'm definitely a fan of madewell clothes, but i've never been to a store and i have only ordered once by phone. i was excited to visit their boston shop and finally try on a pair of their jeans. of course, days before our trip, they opened an online store. this actually helped. i new exactly what i was looking for. the adorable hazy days tank, which is now hanging in my closet, was one of them.

sweet summer

i've been unapologetically neglectful of my blog. it started with my in-laws in town, then friends visiting, a road trip, a wedding in minnesota, and that's only the beginning. when i looked at the date of my last post... may 21... i cringed. i was planning on being more on top of things. i promise i will be back next week at some point with lot of posts, updates, and photos. hopefully i will be able to keep it up, but this 80 degree weather is really stunting my productivity.
