forget-me-knot

my friend katy would spend a week during the summer at our cabin growing up. we would sleep in a tent in the yard, practice diving off the raft, and ride double on her banana seat bike. in a last-ditch effort to extend her stay we would hide her retainer and headgear. this went on for a few consecutive summers. it seemed logical at the time. everyone benefited. either she would stay to find it or leave and never have to wear it again. the plan never worked.

this gold retainer necklace, by kiel mead, would be perfect for her. i love jewelry that takes the ordinary and turns it into something beautiful and wearable.
