i was looking through alec soth’s collection “paris/minnesota,” admiring the contrast and comparison between the stark, white stage of a chanel fashion show at the grand palais and the empty, snow-covered parking lot of a jcpenny. and then i saw them. four girls, each with a distict style. they were students at my old high school. i didn’t know them. i graduated years ago. but i recognized the jacket and it’s big, blue letter b. it was a strange mix of my childhood and adulthood coming together in a small grouping of photos.
i’ve never been to a paris fashion show or to the walker eelpout festival, but looking through these images made me realize that there are a lot of things i want and need to do. and hopefully, so do those four girls.
